Summertime Joy! (Ice Cream) is No. 5 in the collection of  songs written about special desserts. All of the texts for the collection were written by personal friend, Joe Finetti. It is a level 5 piece for SATB Choir & Piano and would be a great fit for high school, college, & community choirs.

A remembrance of lazy summertime afternoons, as a child, when the ice cream truck would drive down the street, ringing the bells to signal that frozen happiness had arrived. The multi-metric setting gives the work the carefree, jaunty feel of childhood! Take your audience back to those wonderful days!

“Summertime Joy! (Ice Cream) – Joe Finetti

Who knew that Joy
Can be packaged, and bought on a stick?
At ball-fields,
A park,
The beach,
Or a concert.

In cities and towns on mid-summer evenings,
Its presence foretold by shimmering bells,
As a slow-moving panel truck creeps round the corner.

Children will shout and parents will smile,
Recalling that first taste of Joy:
Shockingly cold,
Imploding in tongue-tingling swirls of creamy sweet happiness.

Joy can be packaged and bought on a stick!
