...To The Ever-new Dawn - SATB & Piano level 4+

An excellent work for high school, college, and strong community choirs. The work was commissioned by Dr. Peggy Dettwiler, Director of Choral Activities at Mansfield University, Mansfield, Pa. The work is a setting of Look To This Day by Kalidasa from the Sanskrit tradition.taken from 5th century writings attributed to Kalidasa from the Sanskrit tradition. Music Is  - SATB Choir & Strings (piano reduction included)  level 5 larger work

A stunning work for high school, college, and strong community choirs. The text  is a compilation of thoughts collected by the composer from music colleagues and friends responding to the question; "What is music, what does it mean to you?", From joy with tears, sorrow with smiles, raging peace, shouts of silence, flamboyant simple scenes, and with the final stanzas summarizing music's place in our souls and the deep human connections, the piece reveals the essence of music so well.  For details, preview scores, full text, and recordings, click on thumbnail.

Dolcissima (Tiramisu) - SATB Choir & Piano Level 4

No. 3 in a collection of songs written about special desserts on texts by Joe Finetti and would be a great fit for high school, college, & community choirs. With apologies to Verdi & Puccini, Dolcissima is a tongue in cheek "Aria" of affection to Tiramisu. It is in the style of any great tenor aria of the romantic period with an out pouring of devotion for the most beloved, Tiramisu! For details, preview scores, full text, and recordings, click on thumbnail.

No. 5 in a collection of songs written about special desserts on texts by Joe Finetti and would be a great fit for high school, college, & community choirs. Summertime Joy is a remembrance of lazy summertime afternoons, as a child, when the ice cream truck would drive down the street, ringing the bells to signal that frozen happiness had arrived. The multi-metric setting gives the work the carefree, jaunty feel of childhood. Take your audience back to those wonderful days! For details, preview scores, full text, and recordings, click on thumbnail.

Invictus  SATB Choir & Piano. Level 4

An excellent work for high school, college, and community choirs. The work is based on two William Ernest Henley poems (IV, & XI) from his collection entitled "Life and Death Echoes". The first became known as "Invictus" and Thick Is The Darkness”. The two texts interspersed with each other become dynamic statements about the unconquerable and indomitable human spirit. The famous line; "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul" is the final line from "Invictus". For details, preview scores, full text, and recordings, click on thumbnail.

Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead  SATB Jazz Choir a capella Level 5

This is a Jazz Choir arrangement of Ding - Dong The Witch Is Dead from "The Wizard Of Oz" by Harburg & Arlen. This arrangement is not for sale or distribution. It appears on the website as an example of my jazz choir arranging. This is a tough, but creative chart for a capella jazz choir. It is written as an SATB arrangement, however with the amount of divisi occurring in both the women's and men's part, it is really 3 part women & 3 part men. In The Purple Chill (At Sunrise) SATB a cappella choir. Level 4+

Suited for high school, college, and community choirs. It is one of three pieces from a collection using texts by Bliss William Carman (1861 - 1929). Carman’s poem, “At Sunrise” (1922) beautifully paints the picture of the sun rising with all of its colors and glory, taking over the stars in silence, as a new day is being created with all of its hope and splendor. “In The Purple Chill” is set using shimmering harmonic colors to create a sense of peace and hopefulness for the new day, and a tinge of sadness as the sunrise fades.

Courageous Messengers Of Light (Fireflies) SATB a cappella choir. Level 4+

Suited for high school, college, and community choirs. It is one of three pieces from a collection using texts by Bliss William Carman (1861 - 1929). Carman’s poem entitled “Fireflies” (1922) beautifully captures the image of the "courageous messengers of light" coming out at dusk in the meadow's seeding grass and floating in the sky as night arrives. The soprano obbligato and the harmonies chosen reflect the shimmering quality of the vista of the flashing lights in the night sky.
